Black Strapless Dresses

Posted on: April 1, 2011

Now it’s time to talk about the “little black dress”.  The black strapless dress is a must for every girl’s closet. It may be slim cut or have a full flowing skirt, you must always have, in your closet, a black dress or two that will fit any occasion. The black strapless dress makes a statement when you show up at parties. It allows you to show off your shoulders, your tan and your jewelry.

Because black goes with anything, and anything goes with black. The black strapless dress is like an easel that allows you to create a picture of yourself.

You can show those beautiful bare shoulders with that gorgeous tan.

The black strapless dress allows you to use your neck and shoulders like a jewelry display case. You can wear very simple jewelry for a formal affair or if you are attending a gala affair it gives you the opportunity to be a little bit of show off and sparkle to your hearts desire. The line of the bodice may be cut straight across at the top of the bust, or have a curve or dip down toward the cleavage to add a certain kind of charm. For certain occasions you may even add a scarf around the neck or around the waist for extra flair.

The black strapless dress may be designed with the oh so regal looking empire waist, with a skirt that flairs to the knees or flows on past the knees to join the ankles. The dress may be made of satin or flowing chiffon. Or it may be a slim cut sheath that accents your slim figure, gliding downward to stop and show off the knee, or go all the way to the ankle, it may even travel on to join the floor.

The black strapless dress may not only be a floor length dress, it may include a train. Some dresses are designed with a train that attaches to the back of the waist that can be removed for less formal occasions. A very lightweight chiffon dress may include a train that attaches to the back of the dress just below the shoulders that can also be removed when it is  not needed.

Black is a color that anyone can wear as it is very forgiving and tends to give a sliming look no matter what style the dress is. If you have a black strapless dress made in the sheath style, that ends at the knee, it may be versatile enough to add a blazer or other type of jacket that would make it appropriate for a business meeting, depending on design in the bust area. No cleavage need be shown for a business meeting. Not in most cases anyway.

The black strapless dress is such  a great investment. It expands  your wardrobe as you have heard and it never goes out of style. Keep it ready to wear and have fun creating the picture of yourself for each occasion that you wear it.

It’s time to go out and have fun in your black strapless dress.
